“Not a single gun shop can be found in this city because they are outlawed. Handguns were banned in Chicago for decades, too, until 2010, when the United States Supreme Court ruled that was going too far, leading city leaders to settle for restrictions some describe as the closest they could get legally to a ban without a ban. “
So…. How good are these laws? They certainly do not “protect” citizens from harm.
The grandmother of a 3-year-old who was among 13 people injured in a shooting Thursday night in Chicago made a tearful plea Friday for an end to gun violence in her city. Chicago had more than 500 homicides in 2012, according to FBI data, more than New York City, which recorded 419, and Los Angeles, which saw 299. Both cities have populations greater than that of Chicago.
Maybe, do ya’ think, Chicago would be safer if the man on the street could legally carry a fire arm, letting the gangs and druggies wonder if they are going to get shot in commission of a crime? They obviously have no fear of the police.
